OK I'm taking over!!

Hello!
My name is Celia Lim and I've decided that despite Murdoch having a vibrant and lively Queer Collective, alas this blog has been abandoned. So I've decided to take it over for my personal pleasure.

Here are some of the upcoming events:

Movie Night on Tuesday the 7th of April!
We've organised to have a movie night next Tuesday from 6pm so bring your dvd collection along! As always we'll probably order food/drink on the night but feel free to bring your own.

We will also be painting a banner for Cross Campus Queer Games (on Thursday the 9th of April) so if you could help that with it would be fantastic.

Cross Campus Queer Games on Thursday the 9th of April!
One of the best events of the year is the annual Cross Campus Queer Games (CCQG) which will be held on the Thursday the 9th of April! Murdoch has won this event two years in a row and we shall continue our dominance! Join us at 11.30am on Bush Court. This event should end around 3.30pm where we shall depart to the Tav for a few pints to celebrate Murdoch's victory (or lack of victory, who needs an excuse to drink?) Also Perth's most popular all Asian Boyband A-Attack will be hitting the stage to dance it up for you guys!

Mary and Max Movie Premiere on Thursday the 9th of April!
Querelle is raising funds and needs your help!!!

Invite your mates, support your community, chill out and watch an awesome movie for only $15 prebooked or $20 at the door. Prebook your tickets by contacting Fiona on 9328 9828 and receive 25% of at the bar.

This is a claymated feature film from the creators of the Academy Award® winning short animation Harvie Crumpet. It is a simple tale of pen-friendship between two very different people; Mary Dinkle, a chubby lonely eight year old girl living in the suburbs of Melbourne, and Max Horovitz, a 44 year old, severely obese, Jewish man with Aspergers Syndrome living in the chaos of New York.

Spanning 20 years and 2 continents, Mary and Max's friendship survives much more than the average diet of life's ups and downs. Voices include Toni Collette (Mary), Philip Seymour Hoffman (Max), Barry Humphries (The Narrator) and Eric Bana (Damien) and introducing Bethany Whitmore as young Mary.

This event is happening on the 9th of April at 6.15pm (doors open at 6pm) at Luna Cinema Leederville, Corner of Vincent & Oxford St so you can go to CCQG AND this movie!

Queer Collaborations (QC)!

QC is on again this year from July 13th-17th and is being held at the Australian National University in Canberra.

We'd love you to be there! Last year the Murdoch Collective formed the biggest group from any WA Uni and was one of the largest collectives present out of every Australian University! So come on guys lets do it again!

QC is a week long program of workshops, seminars, talkshops, art events, craft sessions, social events and networking. Whether you want to get political with a whole bunch of queers or just have a week of fun away from Perth, Queer Colloborations 2009 will provide you with a venue to do it. While it is political the great thing about it you can do what you want to do - pick which sessions you go to, what days you goy and what day you want to go shopping or partying! I did this last year and it was AWESOME!

Cross Campus Queer Network:
In the last couple of meetings at CCQN, we've been discussing mostly Querelle (a queer student publication produced by Murdoch and UWA), QC, and fundraising for CCQN. In the last meeting on the 28th of March the main points of discussion where:
  • The CCQN quiz night that happened on the 18th of March: How everyone thought it went, what could be improved etc;
  • Querelle - articles we needed (submissions are now closed for Querelle), fundraising etc;
  • Discussion on the Genderfuck Ball happening some time in May;
  • Unisex toilets; and
  • Writing articles in Out In Perth spreading the word on CCQN and other events from all the Queer Collectives at all the WA campuses
The next CCQN meeting is on the 19TH OF APRIL AT CURTIN UNIVERSITY! Please come! We always welcome new people! New people = new perspectives and fresh ideas!
I think that is it!

Contact Michael (email on the sidebar) if you have any troubles/queries.
