Upcoming events!

Hey guys.

I admittedly fail in not being very creative with this blog, I am going to try and post pretty pictures but until I am finished with my Corporations Law assignment, you will have to deal with the bland-ness.

Some upcoming events for you:

CCQN Meeting:
The next CCQN meeting will be held at Murdoch. Yup, and it is going to be the best damn CCQN meeting ever!! It will be held on the 9th of May starting at 5pm at the Murdoch Queer room. The actual meeting will start around 7pm so there is plenty of time to mingle with your fellow queers. Come by if you got something to say or just wanna hang out with cool people like me :D.

Queer-i:
There is a new event to check out also called Queer-i being held at Walter's Cafe in Murdoch Library from 5-7pm on Thursday May 14th.

Queer-i is all about addressing how to find Queer venues, support services or even just people you can talk about your sexuality and gender without fear or discrimination. . It's an evening of information about support services, venues/safe spaces, the community at large and just how to go about solving Queer-related issues.

This is also a great event for those not familiar with Queer spaces around Perth, those that don't really get into the "Queer Community" and those that are even simply beginning questioning their sexuality and not sure what to do about it or where to go.

A number of guest speakers will also be attending and will be more than happy to answer any questions, concerns or queer-ies your have about anything Queer in WA.

This is a free event open to all WA students brought to you by the Collective in collaboration with Murdoch Equity, Access & Diversity.

Karaoke Night:
Hellz yeah it is back people!!!!!!!!!!! The last one was SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO good, that it is now becoming a monthly thing!!!!

It will be held on the 21st of May at the Basement on Broadway on 88 Broadway Ave. Oh man, the last one was so good, if you don't go really you are missing out!!

That is all for now.

Gay Prom is being held at our favourite gay bar The Court held on the 26th of April. It starts around 6pm and should be a ball of fun! Here is the description:

Did you miss out on your true prom experience because you couldn't take your real date to the ball?

Well now you can. The Court is hosting Gay Prom, a fairytale event in the beer garden, just follow the yellow brick road and you'll find your way into a world of fantsy and magic. Bring along your partner or meet a sexy single there.

Featuring live band Time Out (formerly the New Romantics) and DJ Seb Sharp.

Have your photo taken with your prom date and enjoy finger food all night long.

Dress: Fairytale or formal

Tickets $10 presale and $15 at the door. Available soon from The Court.

I'll be there so come and join me!

ALSO...

CCQN is also doing CAMPus! at the Court on the 28th of April. It starts around 6pm. CAMPus is a monthly fundraiser organised by GLCS. So come along for some beer, pizza, raffles and so on.

Just wanted to update you guys on the results of the Cross Campus Queers. It was a successful turn out with students from all the universities in Perth turning up. However due to Murdoch's disappointment, UWA won this year. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

But A-Attack performed at the after party which was a great success! The Mary and Max movie fundraiser was also a great success as well.

I don't have anything interesting to add. Currently it is study week so come on guys! Study hard!!!!

Genderfuck ball!!!

On the 15th of May this year, The Cross Campus Queer Network of WA will be hosting the annual 'Genderf@*k Ball' - a fabulous evening of expression, performance and rule-breaking.

So don your best pair of heels, wax your moustache and break out the glitter.

It's time to break some rules, raise some eyebrows and have some fun!

There will be food provided, performers as well as a fundraiser auction.
As always - proceeds from the ball will go towards getting the kids from the WA Uni Queer Departments over east to the Queer Collaborations Conference.

Check out our official website for more information:
http://genderfuckedperth.comfypage.com

The dress code is - of course, Genderfucked - That is, something that subverts, mocks or 'f@*ks' with gender binaries, rules or norms. Boys in skirts, girls with ties. Boobs AND a strap-on. Bearded ladies, ladyboys, leather Queers, Doms, Subs, Drag Kings, Drag Queens, trannies, tramps, sissies, dykes, queers and poufs, ball gowns and facial hair, combat boots and a tutu ANYTHING!

Be creative - be expressive - but most of all, have fun and chill-out. We are seeking to create an event where dogmatic rules and gendered restrictions are thrown out of the window - where we can celebrate the diversity of expression and identity, where we can make a point and where we can be comfortable in our own skins.

Alas, this is an over 18's event, so if you're underage, sorry. But there is always next year!

GLAMFEST!!

Hey hey guys
I just want to tell you that Glamfest, WA's Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, is on again soon. Yay! The program this years looks pretty sweet and opens on the 15th of April and closes on the 19th of April at Astor Cinemas in Mount Lawley.

If you want to check out the entire program click here. Personally, I'm going to check out Were The World Mine which also happens to be the opening film but there are lots of other great films.

So check it out and meet some new people!
